Wow
I was wondering to myself today, "Does anyone still even come here?". I haven't been here for 5 reasons, Wife, pets, hit a deer last week, City of Heroes, and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. Now lemme tell ya THAW is a badass fucking game. I am throughly enjoying it. Something cool they did that I thought was cool was they had a bunch of new Punk bands get together and cover some classic 80s Punk songs by The Misfits, Black Flag, Fear, TSOL, etc. And even radder they realeased a soundtrack featuring all but one of the covers from the game. I was reading reviews for it on Amazon and man some people really worry me. All these "I'm More Punk Than You" & "That's Not Punk" whiners bitching about how insulting it is to "Punk" for these new age "Wanna-Bes" to cover such classic sounds. I know that the genre has changed alot since the 70s & 80s, but I don't think that new-age Punk bands aren't that bad. Some can be a bit too vocal and protesty (is that a word??) for me. But the spirit is still there in my opinion.
I think what pisses most people off is that alot of the underground bands are making it big. For example, Andi was big into Less Than Jake when they were still kinda underground. Then she sees them on MTV and flips about how crazy it is, and how she doesn't like their "new stuff", which isn't a problem at all. I mean I HATE the new Korn albums, with a passion. What I think bothers people the most though, was that they felt special because they listened to something nobody else listens too. And even though it was bitch to get copies of their CDs, they still supported the band fully. Then they make it big and now suddenly everyone else is listening to them and the band has now "Sold Out".
I always thought that most bands would like to make music a career. And for most the only way to make money is in the mainstream, which to these people entails selling out. Well, they gotta pay bills ya know. They may have families to feed. I admire any band that is in it for the music only and not the money. But that is a dead end road to me. If you wanna devote your entire existence to an ideal, then do what makes you happy. Just don't flip me when you see me driving in my sedan blaring The Sex Pistols.

Thank you dave for another remarkable "grinds your gears" segment. But you're correct. Musicians are people, at least most of them, and like anyone else, they must earn a living. And besides, underground music fanboys who may or may not buy copies of the hard to find cds are nowhere near as worthwhile as the trendy music fans who buy not only their cds, but also obscene amounts of merchandise. So if you can make music that you enjoy, that numerous people also enjoy, and will pay money for, why not?
However, what I said above in no way shape or form forgives Metallica's St. Anger CD. Sorry Tod, it's retardedly (is that a word?" sub-par, and levels below mediocre.
I'm madly in anger with St. Anger. It was hoooooooooorrible. Also, Neo-Punk sucks.
Define Neo-Punk. I know punk-core, grunge-punk, gutter-punk, noise-punk, euro-punk, poke-punk, etc. But I've never heard of Neo.
neo just means new.
