
did you know the popular term "m'am" actually is not short for the word "madam"? fancy that! contrary to popular belief, the term actually comes from the word "mammary". it is well documented that not until the year 1923 were women referred to by the term "woman". before this year, women were defined by their breasts, or "mammary glands" and were always referred to as "mam-havers". as fat men (men seeming to have breasts) became more previlent in society, confusion set in and the term "women" was added to the english dictionary. however, old habits do not die easily, and the classic "mam-havers" term was shortened to the much catchier "m'am" which we enjoy today.
