I do not condone downloading films. I am a purest 98% of the time. I believe you should go to the theatre, rent it, or buy it. But I have changed my mind for one film in particular. That film is Halloween (2007). As much as I think Rob Zombie is a great director, visionary and an all together "cool" guy, do not waste your money on the theatrical version of the film. The bootleg version of the film is so much better. The story is coherent, as well as graphic. Compared to the choppy, jumbled mess the downloaded work print is a masterpiece. Find it, watch it!

Bored during lunch

So basically, I'm sitting at home, on my lunch, and I'm bored. The house is almost completely packed up and the overall realism is starting to hit me. This is really happening, I'm getting out finally. Andi's dad is coming out next week and she will be heading back that way on the 3rd with the Uhaul and the pets. I'm gonna be moving in with a buddy for my remaining two months. All I'm really going to be doing is playing City of Heroes and banking some cash. So I've been thinking of other tasks to occupy my time and I think I'm going to start exercising. A guy I work with uses this totally rad thing called a Kettlebell. Basically it's a Russian dumbbell which looks like a cannonball with a handle. With just one of these you can get a full strength/cardio workout. There are exercises that work like 5 or 6 different muscle groups all at once which is great for a semi-lazy man like me. The one I'm getting is 16kg (or 35lbs) and cost $60. The cool thing is that while it may be pricey, it'll be quite awhile before I'm ready to upgrade the weight. So instead of buying a full weight set for like $300, I'm getting it all for much much cheaper. And it'll fit in my car.

Anyways, my terminal leave will be starting on Jan 1, 2007. My final out (aka my last offical appointment), has yet to be determined (should know by this afternoon), but once I finish that I'm done. Once that appointment is done I'm going down to my dad's for a few days to visit, then heading back to the motherland. So I'm estimating anytime between Dec 27 - Jan 4 as my arrival date. I can't begin to talk about how excited I am to be coming home. But I'm also just as terrified. I'm about to start the rest of my life in two months, and I wonder if I'm ready. I'm lucky I have Andi so I don't have to go it alone, but I'm scared I won't be able to provide for my family and that I'm going to fail. I don't know what to think though. I don't have a job lined up, there are a few that I am interested in but nothing definite. Luckily, I'll still be getting a paycheck until Jan 29th so I've got some time to find something.

For those of you that don't know, I usually have adventure-type dreams. Last night, I had a particularly adventurous one. Here is the transcript of me typing it to gerdus, so I don't have to type it again (pardon the annoying line breaks and choppy sentances).

so im trying to get to school
cuz its the first day of school after summer
and im gonna be late
and that annoying chick valerie mallot is with me
like im at work
in the morning
and she works there
it wasnt WG
and im like i gotta go
and shes like can i get a ride
im like well i gotta stop at my house
and i make all kinds of excuses
but she still comes
and im all pissed
then for some reason i go and get this chinese doll
that like is very important
cuz this dood is on the street in a van
shooting arrows at us with a bow whenever im in sight
so
im back behind like reid's house
so i sneak in the backyards
to Mill St. which runs perpedicular to my old Baldwin St.
i make it to a porch on Baldwin
that becomes my house for whatever reason
i go inside
the doll becomes huge and starts smashing every house
i see it in the distance
and i know it has to smash every house
so it gets to the one im in
its smashing houses with a giant sharp fake ice cream cone by the way
it gets to the house im in
and it remembered i was trying to rescue it
so it did a very light smash on my house
i ran into a doorway
and i was fine
so now the dood with the bow and arrow is more pissed i think
cuz i let the doll get huge and fuck shit up
so i look outside and theres hookers out front
like talkin shit to drivers goin by
me and damn valerie run to the car again
a skinny hooker asks for a ride
valerie tells her yes, im pissed again
i think a major part of this dream was how much that valerie girl annoyed me back in the day
so anyways
this is one of the coolest parts
the hooker jumps in the drivers seat and starts to gas on it
i slam my foot on the breaks
im standing beside the driver's side door
one foot in the car
i turn the wheel hard to the left so the car does a donut and the damn hooker doesnt drive off
we're spinning the car around in circles in the road
a van comes up the road hauling ass
drives off into someones yard
i yell at the hooker that that person in the van coulda just died
and threw her ass out of the car
like tumbled her onto the road
i got in and drove towards the Broadway
i almost run into a swimming pool of kids on the way
then i get to the road
and its a bridge
but i gotta cross it to get to school
and now im way late
i realize this bridge is water
so i just in and swim
the hooker is behind me swimming all pissed
i look over the bridge, and below the bridge is like an empty area where water should be
so i start wrestling the hooker in the water

GUESS WHAT DAVE? Well I guess the title already ruined it, but I ordered a DS today from Amazon, and also I ordered this bad boy:

which allows you to put any DS/GBA roms on it you want! And I can play online. I'll let you know once I get it (probably sometime next week) and I'll download whatever games you're into and we can play online.

I decided I couldn't wait any longer, I really want to play New Super Mario and eventually Yoshi's Island 2. Also, I look forward to trying the DS Wario and the new Mario 3 on 3 Basketball game. And I can play some of my old GBA favs.

Dave if you're interested- how this cart works is pretty impressive, all you have to do is download DS roms, then run them through this encrypter program (which all you have to do is open it and it automatically encrypts all the roms in the same folder) then you take that tiny microSD and fit it into a normal SD sized card, which fits into a card reader, then you drop on any DS roms, GBA roms, and even save game files too, then slap that puppy in your DS with a passkey card in the slot so it boots DS games from the GBA sized cart.

Both of these films will play, back to back as a double feature called Grindhouse. As an added bonus there will be trailers for faux films in between the two features. The faux film trailers will include a blaxploitaion, a sexploitaion, a spaghetti-western, and maybe another slasher film much like Death Proof.

Recently something happened witha friend of mine here, and a question arose in my mind.

Is it wrong to put loyalty before your own morales?

In the part that involved me, I chose loyalty. I'm still feeling weird about it though. I mean our morales are what make us who we are, so by putting them aside, did I just forfeit my own being? Andrea doesn't think any less of me, but I'm worried that others will. I can't give you guys specifics (I had to sign a non-disclosure statement). But I want to know what you think about this question.

...to all you guys. July was a bad month for Mike and I. I just wanted to make sure you all knew how much my family and I appreciated your kind words and wishes. I know Robb wans't a favorite of any of us, but he was still an important part of my life and family. We never truly saw eye to eye most of the time, but we did care about each other very much. I'm very thankful to have a group of brothers like you guys, and I just want you to know that your support meant the world to me. I love all you guys. Thank you very much for being a part of my life.

Spiderman 2, Obviously Superior.

I've spent a little time before falling asleep in the last few nights watching Spiderman 2. This is a great movie, far superior to Spiderman 1, which is generally considered the better movie. The main reason I'm not a fan of Spiderman 1 as much, is that I think the villian is lame and ridiculous. The beginning where Peter discovers his powers, and fights Bone Saw is great. But then Willam Defoe goes crazy and uses his flying suit to disrupt Macy Gray's performance during that parade. After spending probably years developing that flying suit, no one at his company realized it was him??? And why did his employees make him a buncha grenades without being suspicious!? And where did the goblin helmet come from conveniantly after he went crazy?? And just "going crazy" isn't a good enough motive for me. Not to mention, how did he make that girl voice in the burning building?

Now in the second one, I think Dr. Octopus is a 100 times more interesting villian. He's a scientist with goals, who needs money and tritium or whatever and Harry offers to buy it for him if he brings him Spiderman since Harry still has a grudge. I think that motive is great, and makes perfect sense. I could watch Dr. Octopus's arms do stuff for hours, I was fascinated. Like when he ripped apart the car and hurled pieces at Spidey. Green Goblin did nothing for me, just flew around and acted gay. Also, you got to see a deeper battle with Peter's own problems in his life, he got to reveal his identity to Mary Jane and ultimately get his girl, a happy ending (to quote V) as only celluloid can deliver! I feel pretty confident that Spiderman 2 is my favorite superhero type (not counting V for Vendetta) movie to date.

I'm hoping Spiderman 3 is even better!

Kevin Smith lashed out at Joel Siegel after the movie critic stormed out of a screening of Clerks II during a scene where the characters are discussing hiring woman to perform sexual favors on a donkey. Siegel got out of his seat and yelled: "Time to go! First movie I've walked out of in 30 [bleeping] years!" In response, Kevin Smith wrote on his MySpace:
"Getting a bad review from Siegel is like a badge of honor. This is the guy who stole his mustachioed-critic shtick from Gene Shalit years ago, and still refuses to give it back. This is a guy who seemingly prides himself on his own nyuk-nyuk wordplay. For 'Pirates 2,' he made us all titter with 'Yo, Ho, Ho and a Bottle of Fun' . . . He made us squeal with delight when he wrote, 'Wheelie Good Time for "Cars." ' I mean, Fozzy [bleeping] Bear laughs at this guy."

Ah memories. I was thinking about Pokemon the other day. I thought about all the hard work and long hours I had put into it. On my Red & Gold games I had complete pokedex's. A good amount of level 100s always ready for a battle with Evan or Mike. Could never really say who was the best overall, we all had our strengths and weaknesses. Those were the days.

Then after I have joined the AF and stopped playing, I pretty much forgot about the fun I used to have. There actually came a point where I had planned on picking them back up (after transferring all my Pokemon to Stadium 2, so I wouldn't lose all the hard work). I was deployed and seriously missing the old days, and decided that when I returned I would start playing again. When I got back to Jersey, I discovered an extremely shitty event had occured. I had asked a buddy of mine to check my mail and drop it in my room (so my box wouldn't overflow, which would've gotten me in trouble. I know.....extremely gay), and naturally lent him a key so he could put the mail on my coffee table. Biggest mistake ever. While I was gone, he decided that he was gonna "hang out" in my room, which eventually became "live in" my room. Which led to a few problems.

1. He got deployed, mailbox filled, got in trouble.
2. Left my room a horrible mess, got in trouble.

While I could deal with 1 (hey, it happens in this job), I was extremely pissed about 2. Until I discovered 3.

3. Had played almost all my video games, and "DELETED" most of my save files.

Not just shit off my memory card, but my two prized Pokemon games. And what really steamed me was that he had only played each for about 20 minutes a piece and SAVED!!!! All those Pokemon from Blue and Silver, gone. My prized Charizard, gone. My box full of Mews (yeah, I still had them), gone.

So I had all but given up on the series. I bought Ruby, beat it, wasn't really impressed. Just when I had thought I'd never play them again, fate played it's hand. I had some extra credit at GameStop and was trading in Big Brain Academy (don't waste your money) and couldn't find anything that I wanted. So I browsed through the used games, still nothing. Then I saw it.

Pokemon FireRed. I figured, fuck it might as well. Now it's like a resurgence of my love for the games. I can't stop playing it. I want to go back and play the others again. Track down some GameSharks and get my 100% dex again. I never thought I'd say it again. But I'm a PokeManiac.

It's great to be back.

PS- Pokemon Diamond & Pearl for the Nintendo DS are set to release sometime this year, hopefully.

Descendents

Lately, I've been listening to alot of Descendents. While they may not be for everyone, their two latest releases 'Merican - EP and Cool To Be You really hit me. While the EP is the typical preview of the LP, there's 3 songs on the EP that don't appear on the album so they're both worth checking out. Alot of their older stuff rocks as well. Good ones to check out as well; Milo Goes To College, I Don't Want To Grow Up, Everything Sucks, and Enjoy!. Some of the other releases are just compilations of older stuff so no need to hunt them down. Anyway, that was all I could think of to post. So, if you're looking for something new, check'em out.
